Theme of the workshop of Ippokratis:  In – Out   Dynamics of Action

In this lab we will explore the various ways we can use to get in and out of contact with a partner.
How can we be light? How to know which is the best solution to take?
How can we understand ours and our partner intentions, respect each other and create a fresh, creative, and joyful dance? How to integrate in the dance various lifts in a simple, organic and non-manipulative way?
These are the questions we will come up with!

Vocal Improvisation & CircleSong

Workshop with Lorenzo Sansoni dedicated to the power of voice and choral singing. Voice, is the first instrument we always use to communicate.
Improvisation is the means that allows us to engage in relationships without linguistic and cultural constraints.
A way to get to know this instrument, ancient like the mountains, through extempory games to do in groups and moments of conduction, in which singing will be in the service of music and expressive freedom.

The activities:

Vocal Improvisation

We will work on the timbric and expressive potential of voice and singing: vocal percussion exercises and body percussion aimed at achieving greater rhythmic / bodily awareness; we will sing together through extemporaneous games to make in circle and in small groups designed to develop melody and harmonic ear.

Circle Song

Methods brought to light by Bobby McFerrin but rooted in the oldest oral and musical traditions – from African ones to those of Native Americans, passing through Asian, Arab, Eastern Europe traditions .. a genre and styles combination, a journey in search of a universal language.
Musically, CircleSong is based on the repetition of “loose” phonemes, harmoniously tied to each other and entrusted by the conductor to the various sections of the circle, to create a real orchestra of improvised voices. Act created on the moment, to which the soloist relies on his solos and rhythmic / melodic variations. A ritual to get in touch with themselves and others in an ancient, delicate and deep way.

Theme of the workshop of R.Bellatalla: “the becoming”

In dance, as in music, everything runs away and on the escape lines there can be one thing: experimentation. Understanding the “becoming”, is to become aware of the continuous change of forms, kinematic relationships between unformed elements. Always half-way travel, but already traveling, succession of silences, suspensions and flashes, coexistence of variable speeds, jumps over empty, moving from a center of gravity to an abstract line.. Things never happen where they are expected, neither through planned paths. There is going to an introductory part of the course, during which couple-specific exercises are made to familiarize with the concept of “becoming” applied to the contact impro, followed by a phase where we will experiment collectively.t
